MLC offers all standard Canadian high school courses from grade 9 to 12. Since both the Canadian and Chinese educational system mutually recognizes each other’s high school credit courses. International students from China from grade 9 to 12 can seamlessly transfer their high school credits to a Canadian institution such as MLC. Every student must complete 30 credit courses including transfer courses to be eligible to receive an Ontario high school diploma (OSSD). Since Canada does not have university admission exams, students are admitted by universities solely based on the grades they achieve in grade 12.
English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are designed for international students who do not speak English as their native language. MLC’s ESL courses aim to strengthen and augment non-native English speaking students’ language skills quickly and effectively. Once admitted, non-native English speaking students are subject to take a short test to determine their currently of English proficiency and their placement in the according level of ESL class. MLC currently offers five levels of ESL classes. Students can enroll in any level of ESL class in the beginning of January, March, May, July, September, and November.
Trinity Western University Pathway Program (TWU PP) is an exclusive partnership between Trinity Western University (TWU) and Maple Leaf Collegiate (MLC). Trinity Western University’s admission office directly issues priority offers to students who have completed at least 2 full terms at MLC with a minimum average of 75% for grade 12 courses with completed Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) issued by MLC. Once admitted, students can choose freely between 42 undergraduate majors offered by Trinity Western University. No third party language exams such as TOFEL of IELTS are required for international students.
